A radio interview with David du Hempsey And the list with diseases for which medical marijuana helps for sure is longer than ten pages and a hundred conditions.

How you feel after publishing your debut novel – “The Marijuana Theory”?

Happy, of course. It’s a bit early for me to say that I am satisfied, but at least my idea is realized and my dream starts to become reality.

How you cam up with the idea for “The Marijuana Theory”?

I can’t remember exactly when. Bu I remember I read a magazine and there was an article for Henry Ford and his first car – the Model T. How he made it with hemp panels and used gasoline based on hemp. It was very interesting to me so I started reading materials for hemp and marijuana, of course and I found hundreds of amazing facts. I remember I was terrified when I read the history how hemp was abandoned in America. I decided to share facts that I found with more people. And my way to do it is writing. I think saying all these real facts in a novel not just a non-fiction book will let more people to read them.

You smoke marijuana?

No, by the way. I am young and healthy now but one day if I have health problems for sure I will. Pills and vaccines are not the type of thing I will use.

What amazed you most about facts you found?

Wow, everything I say. Every single fact is good enough to become a sensation in the news. But why nobody makes such sensations?

What you think?

I don’t know. Ask journalists. Why, for example, none of the republican candidates answer to the invitation for a debate over legalization on Federal level of medical marijuana and industrial hemp. About facts, I just remember I was shocked by this: paper made from hemp is stronger and doesn’t go yellow with time, so why are we still cutting trees to make paper???
And the list with diseases for which medical marijuana helps for sure is longer than ten pages and a hundred conditions. Why doctors should advise their patients to smoke marijuana illegally when they can prescribe this absolutely legally???

Weren’t you upset that some people thought you were crazy for wanting to be a writer?

Not at all. Best thing I can do to answer them is to become at least reasonably good writer. Maybe I sound like dinosaur but still believe that not everything is money.

How many hours a day do you write?

Depends. I always write early in the morning, usually between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. In the afternoons I can only correct.

What’s your favorite part of writing?

Everything. Every single second spent over the sheet. When I write I never know more than a sentence ahead. I just sit and start writing and everything just comes. It is an interesting process for me.

Where do you get all your ideas?

From life. I don’t know. I read a lot, around 30 books per year. Also magazines, so honestly I don’t know, but I have ready ideas for at least five new books.

What kind of books you read?

Varied. Non-fiction, thrillers, crime novels, science fiction, etc.

Should we expect anything new from you this year?

Hope so. I finished one novel and we’ll see. Maybe in three-four months. I don’t stop working, even now I start writing second part of this novel I just mentioned.

Sounds really interesting. Wishing you all the best of luck with “The Marijuana Theory” and your other projects. Thank you for this interview.

I want to thank you and all the people that are not stopping to send me great comments about “The Marijuana Theory”. Free Will, everyone!
