One of them noticed that most of the Billy Joel tributes were centered around the East and West coasts - not the Midwest. Another replied that the reason for this is that Billy's music is very specific to the New York region and that culture truly permeates the sound - vocally, lyrically and even the way the musicians play their instruments: it's PURE New York. At that point, these wise musicians realized that there was only one St. Louis performer who could succeed at the daunting task of "being" Billy Joel and that was Dave Brandt. Brandt (or "Brandts" as he was affectionately called by his Long Island friends years ago when he lived in the area) has headlined at many venues, "Keys Rock n'Roll Piano Bar," "The Renaissance Grand Bar," "The Ritz Carlton," and more.
