MCDONALD'S, TACO BELL AND KFC-LIKE PLACES BANKRUPT (in a film) - "Take Out" explores the downfall of fast food

by Jeff BucknerJuly 18, 2012

What if fast food were no more? "Take Out" (2012) finally online after 8ish years of roasting in the sun (too dangerous for Hollywood)

Landau Motion Pictures is today announcing the online premiere of "Take Out", the comedy about a guy who eliminates chain restaurants. Over the years it has come very close to reaching a distribution deal with this company or that. Close... but didn't ultimately happen. Here are some excerpts from real film acquisitions execs explaining why they said "no" to the most controversial comedy on the market:

We checked out TAKE OUT – I thought it was really funny and really well done, had a bunch of great laughs watching it here with the team. Congrats on a very cool film. Unfortunately our slate is really packed right now, and this just isn’t the right fit for us. -March 2009

After viewing the clips online with several people from the Company, I’m afraid this will not really fit with our acquisition needs. -April 2009

I just searched our database and it looks like we've already seen the film. It's a pass for [company name]. Thanks for checking in and best of luck with the film. - Oct 2008

“Take Out” sounds funny, but it doesn’t have the casting to make it stand out. Have a great holiday as well. -Dec 2007

I’ll have a look at TAKE OUT but the year on imdb says 2005. That’s kinda old. -Sept 2009

“Take Out” looks good, but tough genre without cast so it’s not for [company name]. -Aug 2009

I passed it along to the Acquisitions Department, which is currently reviewing it. I'm sure the popcorn you enclosed in your package will help this process. -Sept 2006

Nearly a decade is enough time for distributors to vacillate on a title; what the heck we're posting it online for free for a limited time. (You win, Hollywood.) For now at least we uploaded a screener to YouTube and we'll leave it there to see if there is any interest in watching the fast food industry perish. The picture stars Judd Omen from "Pee-wee's Big Adventure", Justin Walker from "Clueless", Chase Masterson from Star Trek: Deep Space 9, and Daniel Roebuck from "The Fugitive". Written/directed by Seth Landau from "Bryan Loves You".

Re: how long we'll leave it up: who knows. For now we just want to get it out of the dungeon so people can actually SEE the thing. Please feel free to check out the movie too dangerous for show biz here .
