There are so many models of MP3 players that are available in the market and this makes it very hard to choose the model that is best for you. Despite many MP3s that are giving a stiff competition, Apple iPod’s remain most popular in the markets. Specialists in MP3s suggest a few things that have to be checked while buying an MP3. The required memory capacity has to be decided. If you want your entire music collection, then MP3 with at least 20GB storage capacity is essential. If it is just the favourites that you want, then you can do with less than 10GB storage. Every GB can store up to 250 songs on an average. The actual results might vary, with the songs that are stored.

The size depends on whether you want to use it for entertainment while you are doing other activities like working out. In this case, a compact one will work though the storage capacity is lesser. Format compatibility is also to be checked. Usually, MP3s are compatible with any audio format but, sometimes this might not be the case. This would not be a problem with ‘sip’ files that are burnt from a CD. In case you download them, like from iTunes, then most MP3 players might not be compatible. It is only iPods that can suit this need.

If you want an Mp3 player as a source of entertainment at home, then you consider buying a player which displays photos and videos. Many internet sites provide shows, movies and other videos also. So, an MP3 player compatible with video should be helpful though battery might drain soon if videos are watched. If you intend to listen to music only, then these capabilities are not even a question.

MP3s which can let you tune into FM stations can be very useful when you are bored listening to the songs you have stored. Some of them also permit the recording of songs directly from a radio channel. A player that has games can be an additional and appreciated entertainment.

Some players do contain inbuilt microphones through which voice recording can be done. These are useful for students to record lectures in classes. A long lasting battery on a single charge, depending on your usage should be chosen.
