New Fall event series will be held Sept 22 – Nov 4 with a special Fall Festival on Oct. 6 in Escondido, CA
WHO: Families have a new destination in San Diego County for family fun this fall. Children 12 and under FREE in October.
WHAT: This year, San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum (SDCDM) will create a brand new destination for families to visit in the fall. For family fun, annual pumpkin patch visits and more, SDCDM invites the local community to participate in the Family Pumpkin Patch. The new fall series will start on Sat., September 22 through Sun., November 4 featuring family garden programs, live music series, activities for kids.
Every Saturday this fall, SDCDM will host live music, a pumpkin patch complete with a creative carving station, hands-on gardening and craft activities, and lots of family fun at the museum’s 12,000 square-foot indoor/outdoor facility including the new Children’s Discovery Garden. Seasonal pumpkins will be available for purchase and carving at the museum starting early October. Live music will feature Bluegrass, folk, country, and other local acoustic groups.
As part of the event series, SDCDM will host the 3rd annual Fall Family Festival on October 6 bringing live music performances, food and craft vendors, hands-on activities including a hay bale castle, a bounce house, pumpkin patch, and much more.

Cost: Fall Pumpkin Patch September 22 - November 4: $6.00 per adult/child for museum admission, children 12 and under FREE in October as part of Kids Free October;
Fall Festival October 6: children 12 and under FREE, members $5, non-members $10.

ABOUT San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum (SDCDM):
San Diego Children's Discovery Museum’s (SDCDM) mission is to inspire children to learn about our world through exploration, imagination, and experimentation. The museum serves local families, school and play groups, and visitors from across southern California and beyond. The new 6,000 square-foot facility located at 320 North Broadway, Escondido CA 92025 has an additional 6,000 square-foot outdoor space. The site allows for exciting exhibits for interactive children's play such as Rokenbok, Imagination Playground, Sensation Station, Keva Planks and Origami-try. New exhibits at the facility include a brand new Explorer Discovery Sailboat with toddler area, newly designed Puppet Theatre with new puppets and a large Imagination Stage with musical instruments and new costumes for kids to enjoy. Upcoming exhibits include Life, Earth and Physical Science Stations and the Children's Discovery Garden with a wide variety of gardens, including an edible garden, water conservation garden, native plant garden, flower and herb garden, compost and earth worm farm, urban garden, and backyard aquaponics. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
SDCDM was founded as a non-profit organization in 2001 as Escondido Children's Museum, with the focus of learning through play and inspiring children from newborn to age 12 to learn about our world through exploration, imagination and experimentation. Admission costs at the new location is $6 per person, $3 for military and disabled, and free for children 12 months and younger. Memberships, group discounts, birthday parties, and spring and summer camps are available. San Diego Children's Discovery Museum is affiliated with the Association of Children's Museums.
