MEDIA GIANTS –West Hollywood, Calif. (August 15, 2012) *** Doesn’t every family have a dark little secret? Red Monkey Film’s PERSONA AU GRATIN, starring Wendy Charles and Mel England, is feeding horror fans’ obsession with the cannibalism sub-genre by serving up a delectable menu featuring twisted bites of black comedy. In PERSONA AU GRATIN, which premieres this Friday at INDIE FEST, Rowan Vittles is an average American Teenager with a problem: his family is hooked on eating people! With the help of best friend Seth, and girlfriend Rellie, Rowan tries to detox off his Mom's (Mrs. Vittles) high protein diet and escape the family 'business', but falls prey to the town mortician, Mr. Ghoulden, who has other plans for Rowan.

PERSONA AU GRATIN stars veteran actors Wendy Charles (THE REAL BABYSITTERS OF NEW YORK) playing Mrs. Vittles and Mel England (LITTLE BIG TOP) playing Mr. Ghoulden. The film is directed by Rebecca Heck and written by Andy Cannistra. “When I first read the script I thought, the family eats people and I’m the town mortician who provides the goods? I was like, this is insane!” explains Mel England. “What makes this film most compelling are the metaphors to real life family traditions, quirks and skeletons in the closet. Scenes stayed with me and continued haunting me long after I first saw the completed film.”

Growing up in a household where feasting on human flesh as a nightly meal is grim enough. For the American teenager who yearns to break free of this family tradition, doing so becomes outrageously dreadful. Joining the list of films such as SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, THE HILLS HAVE EYES, THE ROAD, and EATING RAOUL, PERSONA AU GRATIN stands apart from the others for its metaphoric theology.

“The PERSONA AU GRATIN script is completely disturbing, yet the writing was laced with many dark comedic undertones,” remembers Wendy Charles. “It's shocking to play a character who eats human flesh, especially with the horrifying crimes involving cannibalism in the recent news, yet we are telling a story about a family with a secret, and the dynamics of family life have to ring true, no matter what we serve for dinner."
